Bhutan is a land locked country surrounded by the Himalayas and
Phuentsholling marks the entry of Bhutan point from India. Most tourists entering Bhutan over land, enter at the border town of
Phuentsholling, from the neighbouring Indian town of Jaigaon. The Bhutan Gate, marks the border between India and Bhutan and its grand architecture is a feast to the eye.
Phuentsholling is one of fastest growing towns in Bhutan and can be considered the commercial hub of the country. The Buddhist temple, Zangto Pelri Lakhang is a famous tourist destination and is centrally located in
Phuentsholling.
A few kilometers from Phuentsholling is Kharbandi Goemba monastery built in 1967. It houses the large and
fascinating statues of Sakyamuni, Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Guru Rinpoche.
