The land of the forest Gods.

As one approaches the National Park, one is received by the continuous ringing of temple bells, a typical sound created by the crickets.

Gorumara, unique for its diversity is spread in the foothills of the Himalayas in the flood plains of Moorty and Jaldhaka rivers, comprising of 80 sq. kms. including the upper Tondu reserve and Chapramari wild life sanctuary. This is the most important migratory corridor of the Asiatic Elephant - the myth of this forest prayed as Mahakal Baba.

This is also the residence of the Indian "One-horned Rhino" and herds of Gaur the Indian bison. In fact there is no end to listening to the mammals, reptiles, fishes, insects etc.

Bird watching is the best pastime in this park. To monitor the Rhinos, Gaur (Indian bison) etc. in the National Park, the Garati watch Tower was built. Today you can sit in this watch tower from dusk to dawn and look out for wildlife.
